EHRMCC - European Human Rights Moot Court Competition
The European Human Rights Moot Court Competition (EHRMCC) simulates the procedures of complaints regarding the European Convention on Human Rights to the European Court of Human Rights. The Competition is organised by ELSA International in cooperation with the Council of Europe.
The EHRMCC consists of two rounds: Written Submissions and Final Round. The Written Round serves as a preliminary round with the aim of selecting teams for the Final Round in Strasbourg, France. After handing in the two written submission, one for the applicant and one for the respondent, the best 20 teams consisting of 2-4 law students qualify for the annually organized Final Oral Round. The final plead-ings take place in Strasbourg, France, and will be held at the European Court of Human Rights. The whole competition is held in English. Every member of the winning team gets the unique opportunity to intern at the European Court for Human Rights in Strasbourg.
The Competition provides a unique opportunity for students to experience the principles and implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights first-hand and to gain practical experience comparable to real pleading in front of the European Court of Human Rights.
