Become a member!

What good is a membership to me?

A membership at ELSA has many advantages! You get to know many new people nationally and internationally, make important contacts and experience the study of law, the legal clerkship or the profession from a completely different, exciting, instructive and exclusive side.

Because we are an internationally oriented organisation, as an ELSA member you also have a wide range of opportunities to realize yourself abroad - be it in the form of study visits throughout Europe, international events, internships abroad or as part of a delegation on the diplomatic scene.

What are the obligations of membership?

The only obligation that a membership in ELSA Giessen entails is the obligation to pay: The membership costs € 9.00 per semester.

How do I become a member?

To become a member of ELSA Giessen, simply fill in the membership form. It can be thrown into our mailbox (Licher Strasse 68, 35394 Gießen) or delivered directly to our office (Licher Strasse 76, 35394 Gießen) during our office opening hours.

How do I cancel my membership?

According to § 8 I of our statutes, the termination of membership at ELSA is only possible twice a year for the coming semester - either on 31 March or on 30 September of a year. The cancellation must be made in writing in any case - cancellations by e-mail are not sufficient! You can use our template, if you want to.

Get active!

You do not only want to participate in our projects, but you are also interested in becoming an active part of ELSA-Giessen e.V. and to help with the organisation of certain projects or even to become a project leader or board member yourself? We are always looking for committed members who would like to join us in filling the guiding principle of ELSA "A just world in which there is respect for human dignity and cultural diversity" with life and concrete local activities.

ELSA is diverse - and this diversity also distinguishes our board activities. Whether external representation, team leadership, internal administration, finances, project organisation, creative marketing, social media or IT - we offer a wide range of activities. Depending on your own personal inclinations and abilities, you can be actively involved in many different fields of activity. Our job folder for ELSA board members and directors contains an overview of all fields of activity and areas of responsibility.

Whether project management, time management, teamwork, team leadership, rhetoric or self-presentation - all such so-called "soft skills", which are indispensable for almost every later legal activity, are learned as an active member of our team almost incidentally.
